The Pre Russian Engineering Programme (Pre Russian) is a 14 month (12 months in Malaysia + 2 months in Russia) preparatory programme for students with academic excellence who wish to pursue their studies in Russia. Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) has been chosen to be the centre for this preparatory programme as it focusing on the concept of teaching and learning through the Russian way.

Pre Russian Engineering Programme has been running for 15 years, started off with the first batch of 21 students in July 2005. They began their 1st year studies in Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) in July 2006. During that time, 33 students enrolled for the second batch in July 2006 and 10 of these students further their studies in State Marine Technology University (SMTU), St. Petersburg, Russia in 2 faculties; Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering and the rest is in Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI).

Programme Structure

This programme is a 14 month (12 months in Malaysia + 2 months in Russia) preparatory programme:

• In Malaysia
  The students selected by MARA via Young Talent Program (YTP) Development will undergo 12 month preparatory program (3 semesters) at UniKL MIAT, Sepang Campus. The subjects taught during preparatory program are Russian language, Physics, Mathematics, Informatic, Technical Drawing, Islamic Studies and Malaysian Studies.
• In Russia
  After the 12 month preparatory in UniKL MIAT, the students will undergo a 2 month cultural course in Russia. This is where students will follow an intensive Russian language course, Mathematics and Physics. Students will be introduced to the Russian way of life during this 2 month of bridging programme.
• The Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) has certified UniKL MIAT to conduct the Pre-Russian University Engineering Program due to the quality standards and criteria set by the Agency met by UniKL MIAT, and been approved by MQA (Registration N0 : A 7481).
